Are Protein bars a Good Idea Before Working Out?

One of the most counter-productive things you can do before a workout is starve your body. You should not eat too many starchy carbohydrates right before a workout, because you will feel tired and bloated. One of the best things you can do before cranking up the heat at the gym, is to eat a light hearty snack. Protein bars are a great source of energy because you are giving the body what it needs in order to preform at it’s optimum level. You will transform the protein into muscle while you burn off the fat (which is exactly what you want).

Sometimes you may feel even more hungry after having that light snack. It’s funny how metabolism works. You give it a little something to keep it happy and it cranks your body into a calorie burning overdrive. Add a piece of fruit or a small juice after your workout and that will become metabolized instantly giving your body something to “chew on” before you have dinner. You do not want your body trying to eat away at the muscle tissue you just spent hours perfecting. If you give your body a little recovery snack as well, you will not overeat at dinner and store those undigested calories overnight.
