Running or Walking; What is the Best Choice
Running and walking are both great exercises that help keep a person’s heart healthy. They also help a person maintain a healthy body weight. Many people are asking which one of these exercises is the better choice. There are pros and cons to each and the best exercise depends greatly on a person’s health, lifestyle and fitness level. Walking is much easier on the joints than running is, so those who have issues with their legs or their knees should choose walking over jogging. Walking helps improve a person’s fitness, but since running is more vigorous; it can help people reach their fitness goals faster.
It is important to note that people who run will burn the same amount of calories as other people who walk the same distance. The only difference is that those who run will reach their destination faster. Since running increases the chance of getting injured, walking is the best choice for elderly people or those who are out of shape. People who still have trouble deciding may choose to do a combination of running and walking, which is also referred to as interval training. Interval training helps increase a person’s metabolism and burn more fat than walking or jogging.
